Adele

Amy, Lily, Duffy, Buffy, ok the last one was a vampire slayer, but most would agree that we need another British female "soul singer" like Texas needs another hurricane, but if u will, please dedicate a minute or twenty to the latest Brit soulstress...Adele

Though she may lack a drug addiction or lesbian lover, she can wale with the best of them.

So please, don't give her the cold shoulder $

Abe Vigoda

Abe Vigoda sounds like Vampire Weekend on crack.
With tribal infused punk grooves and band members who look like they just passed the 10th grade, u can see how they easily mesh with VW on their current tour.

Abe Vigoda is a part of LA's emerging punk scene and frequently plays at The Smell which also hosts other noise rock fav's No Age.

Their latest lp, "Skeletons" hasn't garnered the same critical praise that "Nouns" has, but its definitely just as good, if not better$

The Turner and Kane project

The Shadow Puppets, the side project of Alex Turner and Miles Kane who each handle vocal duties for the Arctic Monkeys and The Rascals respectively, kinda makes u wish more American indie kids would have grown up listening to Beatles and Bowie$

Youth Has No Age

I've found that the smaller the band, the greater its creativity.
No Age is compromised of two people; a drummer and a guitarist, so you can imagine how much creativity is jammed into their debut disc Nouns, out now on Sub Pop records.

The first single off the lp, Eraser, is pure art rock magic., containing that great combination of illusiveness and accessibility.

No matter how old you are, No Age is worth a listen, but don't take my word for it, ask Colin Greenwood $

Bowling For Primary Time

As you may have heard, every single day for the past two months, today is Pennsylvania's Primary.

The latest pols show Hillary Clinton with a seven-point lead over Barack Obama. That's about three points higher than a week ago, but thirteen points lower than a month ago.

What does this all mean?
First, although a candidate will never become Pope by attacking their opponent, it appears that it does have a negative affect on them.
Though many of us cringed during the first forty minutes of last week's ABC debate, some of us began to wonder if a man with seemingly so much baggage could be electable.

Second, Pole-liticians, have been repeatedly wrong about their predictions. Polls offer a great insight into what could/should happen, but what actually does happen can not be accurately predicted by surveying five percent of a population.

The point is, Clinton might loose, she might win, she might "win", she might win big, she might win small, but we're all going to be having the same discussion again in three weeks so you might as well just go pick up the new Madonna album Hard Candy $

Vent:
MSNBC's Dan Abrams asked allowed last night, "Senator Clinton is ahead in Pennsylvania, so why is Barack Obama still the presumptive nominee?" Honest rhetoric coming from a person who's "hard news" show reflects a Spiderman Comic. But maybe Mr. Abrams could ask one of his interns to check out that thing called delegate count and maybe the great philosopher will find his answer $

The Rich Man's Dane Cook

Perhaps after you've heard Demetri Martin for the first time you'll say to yourself, "hey, he sounds like the smarter version of Dane Cook."

Then, later while riding back w/ your girlfriend from a movie she'll pop in in the "Dane Train" and you'll say to yourself, "hey, he sounds like the dumber version of Demetri Martin."
Enjoy $

Gnarls Barkley: The Moody Brothers

$$$$$

Cee-Lo has a great deal of questions...
"who's gonna save my soul", "what would be on your mind if you knew you was dyin'", and of course, "does that make me crazy".

Whenever an album is anchored by a single, it seems like the ship doesn't move very far. Fortunately for Gnarls' debut lp, St. Elsewhere, there was enough substance to keep the boat sailing.

The Odd Couple is essentially St. Elsewhere without "Crazy" or any other breakout song. In fact, I was three songs into it before I realized I wasn't listening to Elsewhere.

Danger Mouse is an excellent producer, but sampling other music often stifles lyrical creation. At times it feels like Cee-Lo rummaged the dictionary to match words with the pre-defined rhythm.

It took over a decade for the pair to collaborate, and I think they should wait another before they decide to do it again.
But hey, maybe I'm crazy $

10 Artists For March: Chester French

What they sound like: Beatles, Beach Boys, Weezer, Dylan, N.E.R.D.

Two students discovered by Kanye West during their senior year at Harvard...Pharrell heard their demo and immediately signed them...which means you should not immediately expect their cd to be coming out any time soon...

Apparently retro pop is here to stay $

10 Artists For March: Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

There is nothing I can add to the infinite amount of praise/hype this band has received, but I will say, this is one vampire that doesn't suck $

The Primary Difference

Essentially, during a Caucus, registered voters of a particular political party gather to converse and attempt to persuade their peers to vote for their respective candidates. Voters are grouped off depending on whom they intend on voting for.
If a candidate lacks a certain percentage of voter support, they are asked to join one of the other candidates' groups. After debating has subsided, each person openly makes his or her endorsement. Some caucuses proportionately award their delegates, while others have a winner-takes-all approach.

Sen. Barack Obama has been successful in the caucus states primarily because they tend to reward campaign organization and voter passion, which his campaign has been known for.

A primary is generally what comes to mind when you think of the election process. During a primary, for a specific allotment of time, voters of all political affiliations secretly vote for their candidate of choice. There are no party restrictions and registered voters may vote for whomever they decide at that moment.
The primary system was devised to combat the voter fraud that had become prevalent in some caucuses.

Ultimately what distinguishes a primary from a caucus is anonymity, or lack there of $

Beach House

This is "the stuff that dreams are made of". If, by chance, you fell asleep after watching a Fellini film or perhaps divulging in some illegal drug use.
